My Grandparents by Jennifer Deloso

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Jena who lived with her grandparents, Nana Neng and Papa Quen, on their farm. The house always smelled of woodsmoke and freshly baked bread which is a comforting scent. Nana Neng, with her bright eyes and silver hair, was busy all day. She loved her roses and baking cookies, and she told Jena wonderful stories every night. Papa Quen, a quiet man with strong hands, was a skilled craftsman. He worked in his workshop, the rhythmic tapping of his hammer is a familiar sound. He taught Jena to carve little birds and to recognize the songs of birds and the stars at night. Jena loved doing it.

Their old farmhouse was full of memories. Photo albums showed pictures of their family, each one a story waiting to be discovered. Jena loved exploring the dusty place filled with old toys and furniture, where her imagination ran wild. She always remember the times where they were still there.

Life wasn't always easy. Nana Neng had lots of rules, and Papa Quen could seem grumpy, but they both loved Jena very much. They taught her to work hard and the importance of family, and how to appreciate simple things. However, Jena was very a softhearted but she still manage to understand the things she find it wrong.

One day, Jena got a letter, her parents were coming home. She felt happy and sad at the same time. She loved her grandparents and their farm, and leaving felt scary. The smell of the house, once so comforting, now felt a little bittersweet. But hugging Nana Neng and Papa Quen, Jena knew their love would always be with her, a warm memory wherever she went. The farm would always be a special part of her life.
