Dujanon Festival, Where Beauty meets Culture by Mary Jane Gultiano

People of Anda celebrated the 140th Fiesta in honor of their patron saint, Sr. So. Niño. They held a contest for Dujanon Festival Queen as part of the celebration. As the sky gets dark, eight stunning candidates from different barangays slayed on the stage. They made me speechless with their beauties. One of the criteria was a performance of the Dujanon festival dance by the candidates with their energetic backup dancers. The cultural center was packed with Andahanons, their cheers echoing through the whole gymnasium as they supported their very own barangay candidates. Every time the candidates slayed, it would leave me stunned.

The eight stunning ladies had their showdown with their very creative costumes. Each of the candidates danced with confidence and a big smile on their face. They showed unique movements that captivated the audience. Their performance was highlighting the rich culture of Anda. What particularly stood out were the vibrant gowns of the candidates, inspired by the devotion to Sr. So. Niño. The designers are so talented to create such amazing costumes. Aside from their dance performance, they also delivered their heartfelt speeches about their aspirations and love for Anda. Each spoke confidently, expressing their love and vision in the town of Anda. Their different speeches were inspiring and made the audience feel proud. I got goosebumps listening to the candidates' speeches as they echoed through the gymnasium.

After their wonderful presentation, the panel of judges decided who is deserving of the crown. The atmosphere became more thrilled when giving the minor awards. In the end, a candidate from barangay Poblacion won the crown. She was titled as the Dujanon Festival Queen 2025. While I was rooting for barangay Badiang. But barangay Poblacion deserves the crown too; her beauty was stunning. The cultural center was filled with cheers as the MC announced the winner. The Dujanon Festival Queen competition was more than just a beauty pageant. It was a celebration of Anda's culture.
